North East to expect widespread frost this weekend according to Met Office forecast

The frosty weather is set to make a return this weekend as the Met Office predicts widespread frost overnight.

Forecasters expect a cold and frosty night across the region on Saturday creating a chilly start to Sunday morning. But this is due to be paired with a calm and bright day for the North East.

The official Met Office forecast for Saturday is: "Generally dry, breezy and cloudy with isolated patches of drizzle. Late afternoon a band of rain moves across the area, clearing through the evening to give a cold, frosty night. Maximum temperature 10 °C."

The outlook for is: "Calm and bright Sunday with a widespread frost initially. Frosty and sunny Monday morning before becoming cloudier and breezier during the afternoon. Cloudier Tuesday but perhaps some patchy light rain."
