Two separate reports show people in the North East are running out of patience with the Government’s flagship ‘levelling up’ agenda, it has been claimed.
A survey commissioned by the UK in a Changing Europe group has found that 91% of people in the North East feel the region is not getting a fair share of public funding, while 66% of people in the region said their local high street had got worse in the last 10 years.
Meanwhile, a study by Durham University in association with the Northern Powerhouse Partnership and infrastructure company Atkins found that the levelling up slogan “is not well perceived and is unhelpful as a term.”
