Some areas of the North East are now due two Cold Weather Payments for this winter due to plummeting temperatures.
Postcodes in Newcastle, Northumberland, Sunderland, Gateshead, County Durham, North Tyneside and South Tyneside are among those to have two weeks of Cold Weather Payments triggered for eligible people on low income benefits.
Each seven-day payment is worth £25. They are triggered for postcodes when the weather station they use records or forecasts an average temperaure of 0C or below for seven days. You can check which Weather Station records Cold Weather Payment temperatures in your area.

Below are the NE, SR, DH, DL, TS and TD postcodes due Cold Weather Payments so far this winter and whether they are due one or two.
If you claim low-income benefits and fit the eligibility criteria for Cold Weather Payments, the £25 for each week of average temperatures below 0C will be sent to your account. The DWP aims to send the money within 14 days.

NE1-13, NE15-18, NE20-21, NE23, NE 25-46: Due two Cold Weather Payments. One for December 6 to December 12 and another for December 13 to December 19
NE71: Due one payment for December 9 to December 15
NE22, NE24, NE61-70: Due one payment December 9 to December 15
NE19, NE47-49: due two Cold Weather Payments, for December 4 to December 10 and December 11 to December 17
SR postcodes
SR1-7: Due two Cold Weather Payments. One for December 6 to December 12 and another for December 13 to December 19
DH postcodes
DH1-7, DH9: Due two Cold Weather Payments. One for December 6 to December 12 and another for December 13 to December 19
