A leading cancer nurse in the North East has spoken of what inspired her to help others and the realities of working in cancer care following the pandemic.
Ashleigh McDonald, is a Lead SACT (Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy) nurse at the Rutherford Cancer Centre in Bedlington, Northumberland - which is part of a UK-wide network of specialist centres treating both private and NHS patients.
Since Covid, Rutherford has seen a 200% increase in patients receiving SACT, which describes all types of drugs used in chemotherapy treatment across its centres.
