North Dublin road closure extended by almost three weeks

The closure of a north Dublin road has been extended until February 18 "due to unforeseen circumstances".

The Harbour Road in Balbriggan has been closed since December 13 and was due to reopen next week.

However, it will now remain shut on Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm from February 1 to February 18.

The closure is to facilitate demolition works of the O'Shea's building in the area and the contractor needed the extension "due to unforeseen circumstances".

Fingal County Council has outlined alternative routes for drivers in the area.

For those driving from Quay Street heading east towards Harbour Road, you are advised to continue straight onto Quay Street and left onto Seapoint Lane.

Those travelling from South Pier to Quay Street will divert left onto Seapoint Lane, right onto Quay Street and then right onto Harbour Road.

Traffic going from North Pier to South Pier will divert right onto Harbour Road, left onto Quay Street and then left onto Seapoint lane.

Fingal County Council said they "regret any inconvenience caused in relation to this matter".
