North Carolina Presidential Polls Show Tight Race Between Trump And Harris

Donald Trump and Matt Whitaker

A recent Poll of Polls conducted in North Carolina has revealed a close race between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris. The average of five polls released in late September indicates Trump holding a slight lead with 49% support among likely voters, compared to Harris' 47%.

Despite the narrow margin, none of the polls included in the average show a clear leader, with Trump and Harris separated by 2 percentage points or less. The surveys also reflect the sentiments of North Carolina voters on key issues influencing their presidential vote.

Gubernatorial Race

In addition to the presidential race, the Poll of Polls also sheds light on the gubernatorial contest in North Carolina. Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein is shown to have a significant lead over Republican Lt. Gov. Mark Robinson, with Stein polling at 54% compared to Robinson's 38% among likely voters.

Key Voter Concerns

The Washington Post poll accompanying the Poll of Polls highlights the top priorities for North Carolina voters. Protecting American democracy emerges as the most critical issue, with 65% of voters considering it extremely important to their presidential vote. This is followed by the economy at 59% and crime and safety at 50%. Health care, immigration, and abortion are also important to voters, albeit to a lesser extent.

The polls were conducted before the impact of Hurricane Helene, providing a snapshot of voter sentiment in the state at that time. As the election draws nearer, both presidential candidates will likely intensify their efforts to sway undecided voters and solidify their support base in North Carolina.
