Bin workers in North Ayrshire are set to strike starting next week.
The local authority today confirmed their waste disposal service workers will strike for eight days.
That means vital uplifts and access to recycling centres from Tuesday, September 6 will be affected.
A North Ayrshire Council spokesperson said: “We have been notified by the unions, Unite and GMB, of their intention to take industrial action following a ballot of members.
“Currently, this is likely to affect waste services, such as bin collections, from Tuesday, September 6, until Wednesday, September 14.
“We are continuing to prepare plans to address the potential impact any industrial action may have on our waste collection services and Household Waste Recycling Centres.
“Further discussions are taking place between Cosla and the unions and we remain hopeful that a resolution can be found.”
Refuse workers across the country balloted for industrial action earlier this month in a bid to strengthen negotiations between local authorities and their unions.
Strikes are currently taking place in neighbouring East and South Ayrshire.
Edinburgh workers were the first to walk and started their strike on Thursday, 18 August, while staff in 25 other council areas are expected to take action from September 6.
