Chelsea fans have unanimously blamed club record signing Romelu Lukaku for his involvement in Plymouth's first half goal in the FA Cup fourth round tie.
Lukaku, 28, has struggled to keep his promise to the Blues faithful after he went behind people's backs to conduct what turned out to be a damaging interview with Sky Italia.
Since then, the striker has failed to net in important games against Spurs, Man City and Brighton respectively with the sole Chesterfield goal his only rest bite.
On top of this, the £97.5million man appeared to fall out with Hakim Ziyech during the drab 1-1 draw on the South Coast against Graham Potter's side, so this FA Cup fourth round tie was always going to be a chance for Lukaku to turn around his recent run of form that has seen Tuchel constantly defending a player who ultimately undermined him.
"Yes but welcome to reality. That’s it. We are in the spotlight, we are judged all of us and that’s daily business. It’s like this. If you are a decisive players, if things go very well, people talk about you," Tuchel said last month when asking if the spotlight being on the striker all the time was unfair.
"If not, the same people talk about you. This is part of the business, like it or not. Nothing more to say.”
Chelsea's number 9 didn't get off to the best start in west London as he was arguably at fault alongside Kepa Arrizabalaga for Plymouth's opener in the 8th minute.
An in-swinging free-kick was met by Macauley Gillesphey who flicked on his headed effort easily into the back of the net, which prompted eruption from 6,000 fans who made the long-trek up from Cornwall.
Lukaku was the man in the same zone but he was easily beaten by the League One defender in this situation which just added to the supporters' frustration at seeing him on the team sheet instead of someone like Kai Havertz.
Here is a sample of the best reaction to that moment on social media which was labelled on the BBC commentary as 'terrible defending' on the striker's behalf.
@Oxrapx tweeted: 'Lukaku is ALWAYS stuck between two defenders.'
@CherishChalobah tweeted: 'GET LUKAKU AND CHO OUT MY CLUB HOW IS CHO GETTING THESE GAMES?????'
@centarforward pointed out: 'lukaku’s poaching instincts are non existent, always flat footed.'
@VialliChelseaFC said: 'Forget the fact Lukaku didn’t head the ball for Plymouth’s goal. For this game I felt it was an excellent opportunity to start Werner / Havertz ahead of him.'
Is it feasible to assume the board are pressuring the head coach to continue picking their £100M asset?
@Jugadu_banda has already told Marina Granovskaia what her priority should be for the summer: 'Selling Lukaku this summer should be top priority of the club..'
Finally, @mahykuhl gave his two word verdict to this specific incident: 'Lukaku lazy.'
The commentary team summed up all of these feelings above from the fans by saying that the former Inter Milan striker 'was out of sync' with the rest of the players in the first half which is a damning indictment of where his Chelsea career is going at this moment.
