A teenager from a village in North Lanarkshire is celebrating after being named for the second successive year as the winner of a music award for up and coming stars.
Noel Quinn from Cleland struck the right chord again with the public to be voted top in the Country Gigs Scotland (CGS) awards category of Young Male Artist of the Year.
The Taylor High pupil, who has adopted the stage name Noel “The Mighty” Quinn, plays guitar, violin and piano.
He was up against tough competition but took an incredible 50 per cent of the hundreds of votes cast.
Noel said: “I was absolutely buzzing when I found out I was nominated for the award for this year and even more buzzing when I found out I had won it for the second year in a row. I can’t thank everyone enough for taking the time to vote for me, I really do appreciate it.
“I’d also like to send some praise to the other fantastic acts who were in for the award too so fair play to them.”
Fresh from an appearance last weekend at Freedom at the Fringe, Noel will be performing a gig on his doorstep when he takes to the stage this weekend as part of the entertainment programme when a special event makes a welcome return.
Noel’s dad Thomas, a musician himself, said: “He’s been working hard on his music and hopefully he will be finished recording his next single soon. I’m looking forward to him doing the slot at the Cleland Gala Day on Saturday after it being away for many a year.”
Noel added: “I will be playing in my hometown of Cleland and cannot wait to let the local community listen to me play the tunes.”
More information on the young musician is on his Facebook page.
