Noel Gallagher to team up with Jamie Carragher at Football For Change charity event

Noel Gallagher has become the latest to lend his support to the Football For Change charity as the former Oasis superstar gets set to play a special set in Manchester next month.

Noel and his band, High Flying Birds, will perform at FFC's latest fundraising gala to an exclusive audience of footballers, celebrities and business leaders at the event on 22nd September,

Alongside leading PR firm ThisGeneration Communications, Football For Change was launched by Jamie Carragher, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Everton duo Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Conor Coady last year. The organisation aims to lift young people from disadvantaged backgrounds out of poverty with life-changing opportunities in education and employment.

Since its inception the likes of Steven Gerrard, Gary Lineker, Gary Neville and Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham have all come on board, while FFC can also count England Lioness hero Beth Mead as a supporter.

The inaugural dinner raised £250,000 in November last year at the Titanic Hotel before a fundraiser in March, that was attended by both Liverpool legends Gerrard and Carragher, on Hope Street secured a further £100,000.

And with Sir Rod Stewart listed as an official patron of FFC, it's another legendary rock star who has lent his backing to the initiative with Gallagher the headline act next month.

The 'Don't Look Back in Anger' singer will join Vernon Kay as well as fellow performers Emeli Sande and Melanie C of the Spice Girls at the gala evening. Carragher will also be involved in a high-profile Q&A with a sporting superstar on the night.

With Liverpool legend Carragher on stage with a lifelong Manchester City fan in Gallagher, the verbal jousting is expected as the two clubs once again go head-to-head at the top of the Premier League this season.

Carragher said: “It is amazing to have Noel and his band supporting Football For Change by playing at our annual fundraising gala next month. He is a music icon and we’re all looking forward to it.

“This event follows our launch in 2021 which was attended by our patron Sir Rod Stewart. It is going to be a great night.”

Dan Hughes, founder of the leading PR firm ThisGeneration, who launched the Football For Change initiative said: “Securing Noel Gallagher is a massive coup. This is a major homecoming for one of the world’s biggest music stars and his support will help improve the life chances of disadvantaged young people in the North West.”

The fundraising gala is being backed by Swinton Insurance, DAM Health, Together Money and Watches of Switzerland.
