Musician Noel Gallagher has sold his classic Jaguar sports car to a mystery buyer - despite reportedly never driving it in the 25 years that he owned it.
The 55-year-old former Oasis member got a hefty £125,000 for the 1967 vehicle after it went on sale in March, claiming a £15,000 profit.
He originally bought the car for £110,000 in 1997.
The lead of Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds never got around to obtaining a driving licence after he stopped learning following one driving lesson.
Gallagher has previously labelled the red-leather interior car one of his “most expensive mistakes”, although it was reportedly intended to be inherited by his 22-year-old daughter, Anaïs, according to The Sun.
The Wonderwall singer has two sons, Donovan, 14, and Sonny, 11, alongside his daughter with his ex-wife Meg Matthews.
Back in 2019, the singer told Radio X the sentiment behind the purchase: “My £110,000 Jaguar just sits in the garage. It’s been there since the ‘90s.
“I thought when I became a fully-blown rock star, I was gonna need a car. So I got a MkII Jaguar from 1967, the year I was born. I thought I’ll easily have learned to drive.”
The vehicle did not go to complete waste, having featured in the musician’s High Flying Birds music video for We’re On Our Way Now.
Hurst Park Automobiles, the classic car dealership in London in charge of the sale, first told The Sun: “We can’t disclose any further information about who has bought the car, or how much it was for.”
