Manchester City ace Ruben Dias offered Noel Gallagher a two-week stay at his holiday home to say sorry for his dad accidentally headbutting him.
The former Oasis star had to be tended to by first aiders after Joao Dias bashed into him celebrating a goal as the team sealed the Premier League title on the season’s last day.
Noel said: “I got a lovely text off the player the next day, Ruben Dias, who was like, ‘Look, you know, Dad’s in bits...we’d like to offer you to come and stay with us for two weeks in Portugal for your summer holidays, you and your family.’
“They’ve got some big house in the Algarve. I was like, ‘You know what mate? Is your old man going to be there? Because he’s a bit of a loose cannon’.”
It was another drama-filled day at the Etihad Stadium as Pep Guardiola’s side came from 2-0 down against Aston Villa to clinch the crown by a point from Liverpool.
And Noel, 55, said he and his 11-year-old Sonny were celebrating the turnaround when Joao accidentally smashed him in the face.
He told the Matt Morgan Podcast: “We scored the third goal, I had Sonny in my arms and Sonny was screaming, I was screaming. As I put Sonny down and turned around, [Joao] literally ran straight into me.
“I think he was going to come and pick me up from behind. You know what I mean? In a bear hug.
“He just clattered straight into me. And I kind of like was like, ‘Oh f***ing hell,’ and he was like, ‘Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry.’
“And anyway, it wasn’t until like, I turned around and Sonny went, ‘Oh Dad, you’re covered in blood.’
“So I went to the box and they got the St John Ambulance up, and I had to watch the last seven minutes on the TV while the guy was trying to clean me up.
“The final whistle goes and Pep Guardiola is running up to see his family in another box and he’s crying and he’s like, ‘What’s wrong with your face?’
Despite having his “lip glued back together” Noel’s UK tour is still going strong. He and the High Flying Birds play the Rock N Roll Circus in Newcastle this Thursday.
