Downing Street has sensationally admitted to a "nasty, misogynist culture" during Boris Johnson's premiership.
The under-fire Prime Minister would be a "complete mess" and turn up two hours late to meetings often with his zip undone, one source has claimed.
But No10 Director of Communications Guto Harri says the outgoing Tory leader has "carried the can for the bad behaviour of others" during his time in charge.
The Government exec blamed former aides for the at-times toxic way of life in Westminster.
Mr Harri told ITV : "Previous aides who have devoted their lives to bringing down the PM did indeed preside over a nasty, misogynist culture.
"Downing Street has been a much better place without them."
Tonight: Boris Johnson : The Rise and Fall airs at 8:30pm this evening with some explosive revelations.
A source told the programme that Mr Johnson's arrival in Downing Street brought with it "a very masculine culture - you know, lads down the pub".
The former staffer went on "If you were a female in that sort of zone, it's actually quite uncomfortable to work in."
The source worked closely with the PM for years, the broadcaster claims.
They went on to say that Mr Johnson "was completely disorganised" and "would never read his notes" before meetings.
"First thing in the morning Boris Johnson would turn up two hours late," they said.
"His hair would be wet. He'd have like his zip undone or his shirt hanging out.
"He'd be just a complete mess all the time."
Responding, Mr Harri told ITV: "The vast majority of the press office are women, roughly half the private office and indeed most of the main teams in No10."
ITV Tonight was told there "were way more" lockdown parties inside No 10 during lockdown than the public or police know about.
"I think the Prime Minister himself had a few more than what has been reported, privately in his flat as well."
After he announced his resignation a week ago, Mr Johnson said wants to stay on as PM until the Conservative Party elects a new leader.
Five candidates are left in the race, following the elimination of Suella Braverman from the field.
Penny Mordaunt remains the favourite to become the next Tory leader.
