Social media posts are pointing to a study of more than 470,000 people to argue that sunscreen increases the risk of skin cancer. However, the study didn't examine whether sunscreen is dangerous, and its findings have been largely distorted.

A study involving nearly 470,000 participants allegedly shows that “sunscreen users face dramatically higher risks of all major skin cancers” – at least according to Nicolas Hulscher, a key figure in the US anti-vaccine movement. Hulscher made the assertion in a post on X that has garnered more than two million views.
