NEW DELHI: Paris Olympics bronze medallist Aman Sehrawat will not be able to defend his men's 57kg category title at the forthcoming Zagreb Open ranking series tournament next week, as the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) failed to secure requisite clearance for the event from the sports ministry due to its inexplicable suspension since Dec 2023.
And it's not solely Sehrawat who has been denied the opportunity to compete at the season's first ranking series meet, which carries vital ranking points for seedings at the senior World wrestling championships, scheduled to be held later this year.
