World Cup winner Juan Mata has been lavished in praise after helping Melbourne Victory bounce back from last week's "slap in the face" with a 2-0 win over Perth Glory.

Mata, making his first start of the A-League Men season, scored in the 54th minute of Friday night's match in Perth to seal Victory's first win of the campaign.
