Myanmar’s military leader on Monday pardoned more than 10,000 prisoners in a mass amnesty ahead of parliament’s reopening, though there was no indication that Aung San Suu Kyi was among them.
The amnesty was announced as newly elected lawmakers prepared to convene for the first time in over five years.
