No Return cast on ITV as Sheridan Smith takes lead role in another new drama

Just days after she was seen in Channel 5's The Teacher, Sheridan Smith was back on screen last week in new ITV thriller No Return.

While some viewers were still seething at the 'rubbish' ending to The Teacher, after investing four consecutive nights in it, former Cilla and Cleaning Up actress Sheridan switched channels to take a lead role in the drama about a family whose dream holiday abroad goes horribly wrong, when their teenage son Noah is accused of sexually assaulting another youngster.

In No Return, Sheridan plays the boy's mum, Kathy, with her and husband Martin left in bits when they are left desperately fighting for their son’s freedom against extremely challenging circumstances.

The Turkish holiday takes a turn for the worse after Noah accepts a seemingly innocent invitation to a beach party from a fellow holidaymaker, Rosie, who is staying at the same hotel.

After returning back to the room, Noah and his family are woken in the dead of night by police, with the teen dragged in for questioning.

No Return, which has four episodes, continues on ITV at 9pm on Monday, February 7 and will then air every Monday after.

All four are now available to binge on ITVHub.

No Return cast

Kathy - Sheridan Smith

Martin - Michael Jibson

Noah - Louis Ashbourne Serkis

Jessica - Lily Sutcliffe

Megan (Kathy's sister)- Sian Brooke

Steve (Megan's husband) - David Mumeni

Rico Karvalci (Noah's legal representative) - Philip Arditti

Ismail (hotel worker) - Murat Seven

Al Milner (private investigator) - Rufus Hound

A teaser for No Return reads: "An arrest, an expensive and alien legal system, looming media coverage and resistance from fellow holidaymakers to come to their aid leaves the distraught parents fighting for Noah’s freedom when ironically he should be at school sitting his latest exams."

Lead actress Sheridan has revealed that she was so moved by the script, that she was left in tears during read throughs before filming commenced.
