BENGALURU: It is peak summer in the city but the last couple of days have also seen rain. And, ironically, rainfall has led to increased relative humidity (RH) levels, resulting in warm temperatures and giving people a feeling of intense heat.
According to IMD data, RH in Bengaluru Urban district has ranged from 99% (it touched 100% on Thursday) consistently since April 8 to a lowest of 27% at 4.15pm on April 9. “Humidity variations occur every day and it is highest during early morning hours and lowest in the afternoon. The cycle repeats every day, but wet conditions increase the amount of moisture in the air and cause an increase in humidity,” Geeta Agnihotri, director, IMD Bengaluru, told TOI.
