American import Andrew Andrews has scored 27 points in a star display to lead Cairns to a 93-76 win over Illawarra in one of the biggest upsets of the NBL season.

The Taipans entered Saturday night's match at the WIN Entertainment Centre having lost 11 of their past 12 games and missing superstar Jack McVeigh, who stayed in Cairns to be present for the birth of his child.
