'No matter who the manager' - Robbie Savage makes brutal Leeds United relegation admission

Robbie Savage has claimed that Leeds United will be relegated from the Premier League this season "no matter who the manager is" as the board look to replace Jesse Marsch.

Marsch was relieved of his duties at Leeds following a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest at the City Ground last Sunday that saw the club extend their winless streak in the top-flight. Without a Premier League victory since November, the Whites parted company with their American head coach just shy of his 12 months in charge at Elland Road.

Michael Skubala has since been joined by Chris Armas and Paco Gallardo as co-caretaker managers - with the former manning the touchline at Old Trafford during Wednesday night's 2-2 draw at Old Trafford and assuming media duties.

Feyenoord's Arne Slot and Rayo Vallecano's Andoni Iraola have been hotly tipped to replace Marsch, but both options now appear to have reached somewhat of a dead end. The search for a new head coach continues with Skubala set to be in the dugout once again for Manchester United's return trip to Elland Road on Sunday afternoon.

However, Savage has now claimed that regardless of who the Whites replace Marsch with - or even if they had left the American in charge - Leeds will still be relegated this season.

He told William Hill: "Well we’ve seen last night [Wednesday] after no wins in seven (sic) [eight] they’ve got a great draw [against Man United] with the under-21 manager [Skubala] in charge, so a new manager effect that showed last night in their performance, the way they played.

"I think that with Jesse Marsch, they would have gone down and listen, do I think they will still go down? Yes, I do.

"Nineteen points, yes they made a good signing in Weston McKennie but I just think that only one team in that bottom six has kept their manager, that’s David Moyes [at West Ham]. I think Everton and West Ham well get out of it [the relegation zone] therefore Leeds – no matter who the manager is – are going down this season."
