'No idea why' - Man United fans react to club's decision on whether to appeal Casemiro red card

Manchester United fans have been reacting to the club's decision not to appeal Casemiro's red card in the win over Crystal Palace at the weekend, with the majority of supporters glad the Reds didn't risk an extended suspension.

The Reds opted not to appeal Casemiro's red card, with Erik ten Hag suggesting that the club were unlikely to be successful with any appeal. The Brazilian midfielder was sent off in the 70th minute of United's 2-1 win after he grabbed Palace midfielder Will Hughes by the throat.

As a result, the former Real Madrid man will now be absent for the double-header against Leeds United this week, as well as the visit of Leicester City on February 19.

Speaking about the decision not to appeal Casemiro's red card, Ten Hag said; "Consider, yeah. Still it's for me not the right decision but I don't think we have a chance in a legal process.

"I always have to play with the players who are available and we have a squad, we have many good players in our squad who are also not playing in the starting XI and I have to do it. After a game I can't say Casemiro is not there."

The incident was reviewed by VAR, with referee Andre Marriner being advised that Casemiro's action was potentially violent conduct. However, United fans were frustrated after Palace striker Jordan Ayew appeared to have his hand on Fred's throat during the melee.

United fans were annoyed with the decision to send Casemiro off, but the majority of them are content with the club deciding against appealing his red card. Here's how some Reds supporters reacted on Twitter...

The Brazilian's red card was the first for a United player all season, but the midfielder will return in time for the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United later this month.
