Louis Saha admits he has “no idea” why his former club Everton are struggling so much given the talent in their squad.
Everton remain just a point clear of the relegation zone following a 5-0 thrashing at Tottenham Hotspur on Monday and have won just one two of their last 19 Premier League fixtures.
The starting line-up in north London included three full England internationals ( Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin ), Brazil international pair Allan and Richarlison, Ireland captain Seamus Coleman, and Netherlands international Donny van de Beek, but the Blues still produced a gutless and shambolic display.
Despite having an expensively-assembled squad, many of Everton’s current players have now underachieved under a succession of managers with Frank Lampard the latest recruit in the dugout attempting to ensure they don’t remain less than a sum of their parts.

Speaking courtesy of freebets, Saha who spent three-and-a-half seasons at Goodison Park between 2008-12, was asked what he’d put Everton’s struggles down to but replied: “I have no idea. I don't understand this club.
“They have so much potential, a good squad, they had a spell with Carlo Ancelotti which didn't quite work out and I don't get it.
“They have everything to be a great team. We've seen Leicester win the league so why not Everton?
“They should be much higher up in the league, they've made some great additions, they've got a fantastic academy, the structure of the club is amazing so I'm completely at a loss.”
Everton’s paltry 22 points from 25 games is their lowest ever tally at this stage of a Premier League season and Saha believes they should be concerned by the prospect of being relegated.
However, the Frenchman believes this also applies for everyone from 14th-placed Newcastle United and below.
Saha added: “Anyone in the bottom seven places is in trouble. Everton have to be careful.”
