The FA will not launch an investigation into Kurt Zouma after he was filmed attacking his pet cat.
The West Ham defender is the subject of an investigation by the RSPCA, who seized his two cats and continue to provide care for them, after footage emerged of the France star kicking and slapping one of his Bengals this week. Essex Police are liaising with the charity.
The Hammers have launched their own disciplinary process, handing out the maximum fine possible, thought to be £250,000, which will be donated to animal welfare charities.
There have been calls for the FA to investigate the matter but, while the governing body condemn the actions of the 27-year-old, they will leave the matter to the RSPCA, police and West Ham, as it is not a footballing matter.
West Ham could take further action once the external investigation has been completed, but Zouma is expected to feature against Leicester on Sunday, despite the anger which greeted his selection against Watford on Tuesday.
Zouma’s brother, Yoan, who plays for Dagenham and Redbridge, has been suspended until the conclusion of the RSPCA probe, with threats from fans, sponsors and concern over the his welfare all factors in the decision.
