No comment from FAI after Jacc Sport High Court issues

There was no comment from the FAI on developments in the High Court, where a petition was made to wind up kit suppliers JACC Sports Distributors Ireland over unpaid debts of more than €13m.

The FAI on Monday terminated a sponsorship agreement with JACC that was due to run until 2026.

The Abbotstown-based Association, the court was told on Wednesday, is a significant creditor of JACC, the company that has supplied both Umbro and New Balance kit to the international team since 1994.

The FAI did not give a reason on Monday for the termination of the deal.

For a number of League of Ireland clubs, meanwhile, yesterday’s news from the High Court, where Deal Partners Logistics LTD petitioned for JACC to be wound up, was watched with interest.

Shamrock Rovers, St Patrick’s Athletic and Shelbourne have another year to run on their deals with JACC.

For those clubs, delivery of training kit ahead of pre-season training in the new year is due in December.

Dundalk and Drogheda United also have deals with JACC, but they expire at the end of this year. Waterford United is another club that is currently supplied by JACC.

One club insider said that it can take up to four months to secure and deliver the necessary training gear ahead of pre-season.

Deal Partners Logistics, JACC’s largest creditors with almost €7.3m owed, have urged Mr Justice Brian O’Moore to appoint a provisional liquidator to the company.

Their application was adjourned until today.

Other debts read out in court yesterday included €3m to Ulster bank and €2.5m to Revenue.

JACC reacted on Monday to the news that the FAI had terminated their contract by saying that they would be “taking legal advice” on the matter.
