CHANDIGARH : In a temporary relief for the students of private schools, Haryana chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday deferred the assignment of class V and VIII examinations to the state education board by a year.
The schools will go ahead with their own examinations. Confirming the decision, the CM said: "Recently, the Haryana Board of School Education was asked to conduct these examinations but some parents and schools requested us to postpone it because the Covid-19 pandemic had affected the studies and the preparations.
For this year, these examinations will be conducted at the school level. " The Haryana chapter of Nisa (National Independent Schools Association) has welcomed the decision and asked the CM to constitute a ‘Haryana State Schools Standards Authority’ for setting the curriculum and examination structure for both government and private schools. A member of Nisa said: "We hope the government listens to the expert committee. We request the CM Sahab to consider releasing arrears to the private schools for implementing the RTE (Right to Education) Act. "
The private schools had claimed to be somewhat apprehensive of the standard of the questions that the staterun education board will set for these examinations.
