A no-budget film about a cult of people with ginger hair - made by a group of bored Game of Thrones extras in lockdown - has been picked up by streaming giant Amazon. Damien was launched on the service earlier this month and is already a hit with critics.
The film was made by Bobby Marno, 47, Damien Seed, 40, Andrew McClay, 38, and Matt Åkerfeldt, 33, in 2021. The four part-time actors - who all appeared in the HBO megahit Game of Thrones - decided to work together to pass the time during Covid.
The 72-minute comedy-horror flick starts off as a 'documentary' exploring the life of a farmer from Strangford, a village in Northern Ireland. But it goes on to reveal the mild-mannered man is the leader of a red-haired cult - with the strapline: 'Can you ever truly know a ginger?'.
