A MAN accused of murdering his wife in a horrific domestic violence attack at their wine country bed and breakfast on Friday night remains behind bars.
Steven Galcsik, 47, was in the cells at Newcastle Local Court on Monday but did not appear when his case was briefly mentioned.
His Legal Aid defence solicitor Daniel Larratt made no application for Glacsik's release and bail was formally refused.
Magistrate Ian Cheetham adjourned the matter to Newcastle Local Court in November, and police will compile a brief of evidence in the meantime.
Glacsik faces the lone charge of domestic violence murder, after his 46-year-old wife Natalia Galcsik was found dead at the couple's Pokolbin home on September 27.
Police allege he killed her some time between 6pm and 6.15pm that evening.
A family member at the Coulson Road property raised the alarm with police just after 6pm and officers rushed to the scene to provide first aid, but she had tragically died after suffering significant injuries.
Galcsik was arrested without incident by detectives just after 7pm at the boutique accommodation, known as Unlax Hunter Valley, and was taken to Cessnock Police Station.
It was there that he was charged with murder in the early hours of the morning.
Police on Saturday continued to comb the crime scene and were piecing together the exact nature of the relationship between the married couple at the time of the alleged murder.
Hunter Valley police Acting Superintendent Steve Benson described the scene officers had walked into as "confronting".
Strike Force Stockport - led by Hunter Valley detectives and backed by officers from the northern region command - was launched to investigate the alleged murder.
