College rivalries and loyalties run deep, and Detroit Lions rookie Aidan Hutchinson has provided the latest proof.
After practice earlier this week, Hutchinson was approached for an autograph by the son of Dana Nessel, the Attorney General for the state of Michigan.
The only problem? Nessel’s son was hoping to get Hutchinson to sign a Michigan State football given to Nessel by Spartans’ head coach Mel Tucker.
It went about as well as any Wolverine or Spartan might expect, with Hutchinson laughing and walking off instead of signing the football with the rival logo on it.
Somebody get this guy a Lions ball from the merch tent, would ya?
