AN IRANIAN man arrested after allegedly trying to enter the naval base which houses the UK’s nuclear deterrent will face no proceedings, prosecutors have said.
The 34-year-old man from Iran and a 31-year-old woman from Romania were arrested following an incident at Faslane on March 19.
The Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS) has now said no proceedings will be brought against the man “at this time”.
The prosecution service said: “The procurator fiscal received a report relating to a 34-year-old man and an incident said to have occurred on March 19 2026.
“After careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, including the available admissible evidence, the procurator fiscal decided that there should be no proceedings taken at this time.
“The Crown reserves the right to proceed in the future should further evidence become available.”
The Royal Navy previously said two people had unsuccessfully tried to enter the base.
Faslane, formally known as HM Naval Base Clyde, is home to the UK’s nuclear deterrent.
The Royal Navy’s Astute-class attack submarines are also based there.
