Ange Postecoglou has revealed why Nir Bitton was missing again as Celtic closed in on the title with a win at Ross County.
The Israeli hasn’t featured since he came off the bench for the final half hour in the 2-1 derby win over Rangers at Ibrox.
Bitton was absent the following week as Celtic thrashed St Johnstone 7-0 at Parkhead and then again for the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat against Rangers where he was pictured chatting to former team-mate Kieran Tierney in the stand.
And the 30-year-old was nowhere to be seen for the long trip north to Dingwall on Sunday, raising doubts Bitton could miss out when the title is clinched.
Speaking to BBC before the Staggies clash – where goals from Kyogo and Jota earned all three points – Postecoglou didn’t give specific details of his injury,
But when asked about Bitton he said: “He’s got a bit of an issue. A slight issue.”
Bitton will win his 20th major domestic honour when Celtic confirm their status as this season’s Scottish Premiership champions.
The Israeli has been at the club for nine years and is one of the most experienced in the current squad.
The midfielder has played a key role in the Postecoglou transition and will be desperate to play his part in the run-in.
