Nintendo announced Fire Emblem Engage DLC during The Game Awards 2022, with the first of four waves launching with the game on Jan. 20, 2023. Engage’s first round of DLC will feature Engage heroes from Fire Emblem Three Houses, namely the RPG’s three lords: Edelgard, Dimitri, and Claude.
The first wave of DLC will also include Tiki, the ancient Manakete dragon from the original Fire Emblem who’s since gone on to appear in later games, including the Nintendo 3DS series reboot Fire Emblem Awakening.
Hero Emblems in Engage grant certain characters powers from another world, augmenting their attacks and generally aiding in battle against the strategy game’s tougher foes. The base game already includes heroes such as Ike from Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Marth from the original game, and Lyn from Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, among others.
The DLC will also add accessories, a Silver Card, and new maps, and while the announcement trailer didn’t mention what those maps may be, it seems safe to assume they’ll hail from the new characters’ original games.
The other three waves of DLC don’t have a release timeframe yet, nor did Nintendo say which characters they’ll bring into the fray. No price for the paid DLC came up either.
Fire Emblem Engage launches for Nintendo Switch on Jan. 20, 2023.
