When it comes to beaches, we are spoilt for choice here in Wales with miles of gorgeous coastline, featuring stunning stretches of sand and amazing rocky terraine. So it comes as no surprise that nine Welsh beaches have made The Sunday Times 50 Best Beaches Guide.
While the beaches aren't ranked, there is one national winner and five regional winners and a Gower beach has been crowned the best beach in Wales, with beaches from Gwynedd, Ceredigion and Pembrokeshire also making the list. You can read our own guide to the best 40 beaches in Wales here.

The Sunday Times 50 Best Beaches Guide is released annually and features beaches across the UK. Chris Haslam, the paper's chief travel writer, chose the top 50 out of more than 800 beaches he visited around the UK’s coast. You can keep up to date with the latest What's On news by signing up to the newsletter here.
The national winner has been revealed as Sandhaven in South Shields while the regional winners are Big Sand, Highland (Scotland), Old Hunstanton, Norfolk (East), Perranporth, Cornwall (South West) and Dymchurch, Kent (South East).
The Welsh winner, Three Cliffs Bay, has a stunning landscape with a twisting and winding river running through to the sea, three gorgeous cliffs which are also popular with rock climbers, and sandy stretches. While it is not possible to park directly next to the beach there are also car parks within a short walk away.
The area is also popular with great camping sites including Three Cliffs Bay Holiday Park and Nicholaston Farm Caravan and Camp Site. The main route to the beach is also home to the ruins of Pennard Castle, which after the steep but short climb, provides stunning views over the bay.
Parkmill is the closest village to Three Cliffs Bay where you can enjoy an ice cream, have a day out at the Gower Heritage Centre, or dine at Pennard Golf Club which looks out over the bay.
