More than half of Spain's provinces have been issued a weather warning for "intense heat" as temperatures are expected to rise above 42C.
Cáceres and Badajoz, the provinces which form Extremadura, alongside Salamanca, Ávila, Toledo, Seville, Córdoba, Jaén and Ourense have issued an orange warning for the rising temperatures. In Extremadura, temperatures didn't dip below 39C on Monday.
Meanwhile, Salamanca, Ávila, Ourense and Galicia are expected to see temperatures reach 40C, according to forecasters. A yellow warning has also been put in place for Andalusia, Madrid, the Basque Country, Aragon, Catilla y Leon, Catalonia, Navarre and La Rioja, the Express reports.

Regions affected by the yellow warning are expected to see temperatures between 35C and 38C. Catalonia and Valencia are expected to see thunderstorms later on in the day.
Forecasters expect the extremely high temperatures to ravage Spain over the next few days before slowly cooling off towards the end of the week. A spokesperson for Spain's state meteorological service said they were not dismissing the idea that rising temperatures could indicate a heatwave in the country.
They added: "It cannot be ruled out that it will end up being classified as a heatwave, especially in the southwest of the Peninsula, although it will not be as extraordinary as that of mid-July."
It comes shortly after prime minister Pedro Sanchez warned workers to refrain from wearing ties to help save energy in the scorching heat. During a news conference, Mr Sanchez said workers will be less dependent on expensive air conditioning if they don't wear ties, stating it "means that we can all save energy".
