The EISA Awards are back, celebrating the year’s very best tech, and the Nikon ZR has picked up the Photo/Video Camera 2026-2027 award. EISA’s jury of experts praised the Nikon ZR’s “attractive features” and “reasonable price,” while acknowledging the camera’s RED color science and codecs.
They went as far as calling the camera a “unique tool,” and I couldn’t agree more. In a world where, for a better word, compact cinema cameras like the Sony FX5 and Canon EOS C50 rule the roost, the Nikon ZR does offer something different. Beyond the aforementioned RED tech, you also get that giant 4-inch rear screen, a still baffling fanless design, and access to the incredible Z-mount of optics.
