By now, as a two-time MVP and the reigning NBA Finals MVP, Nikola Jokić has more than earned his flowers amongst his peers. The Denver Nuggets’ superstar’s game might not involve a lot of traditional “high-flying” athleticism. Still, there’s no denying that an all-timer like him can be unstoppable when he’s firing on all cylinders.
After a challenging overtime loss to the Phoenix Suns on Tuesday night, Jokić was asked about compliments from other NBA legends, such as LeBron James and Kevin Durant.
The big man wasted no time to joke about what his peers have to say, as they’re not going to be completely honest about a competitor in public.

Man, how can you not love that (joking) honesty?
Jokić knows he has the respect of his peers. He’s also focused on more important things for the time being, like trying to win back-to-back championships with his Nuggets. So when someone compliments him, technically, that’s true.
It’s just what they’re supposed to say.
