Nikola Jokić is as mild-mannered and quiet as superstars come. But on Tuesday night, the Nuggets center appeared to take a shot at ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins, who accused him of stat-padding.
He notched his 100th career triple-double in his team’s 133–112 win over the Rockets and after the game, he was asked what the accomplishment meant to him.
“I mean, when you’re stat-padding it’s easy,” he said.
When asked if he heard the criticism, he said, “Yes, of course, it’s true.”
Jokić appears to be poking fun at Perkins with some comedy. After all, it’s a stretch to think that him being selfish with his own stats would get him back-to-back-MVPs and have his team atop the Western Conference. Perkins made the comment on First Take last week, alleging that Jokić’s teammates intentionally shoot, whether or not they’re good shots, as soon as he passes them the ball in an attempt to give him an assist.
