Nikhat, Manisha & Parveen look to seal final berth at women's World boxing

NEW DELHI: Nikhat Zareen, Manisha Moun and Parveen Hooda will look to keep the tricolour fluttering when they resume the country's campaign at the IBA Women's World Boxing Championships in Turkey's Istanbul with their respective semifinal matches on Wednesday. Nikhat and Parveen, who are competing in their maiden Worlds, along with 2018 edition quarterfinalist Manisha, are already assured of at least a bronze after they secured contrasting victories in their last-eight stage bouts on Monday.

In the last edition of the tournament, held in Russia in 2019, Indian boxers had clinched one silver and three bronze medals. India have won 36 medals, including nine gold, eight silver and 19 bronze, in the 11 editions of the tournament so far—third highest after Russia (60) and China (50).
