A popular old Llanelli bar and nightclub which never reopened after the coronavirus pandemic is finally set to throw open its doors again three years later. Stamps, located in a listed building on John Street, has been a popular fixture of the west Wales town's nightlife for generations.
But it has been left empty since Covid began in March 2020, and its owner decided not to reopen. Now, owner Ethan Smith has stepped forward to take on the popular spot, with official plans unveiled to reopen the bar on Friday, March 31.
Around ten new jobs will be created, and there will be something to suit older and younger people, with a mixture of theme nights through the week, live music and DJs. Get stories like this straight to your inbox with our newsletters.

Mr Smith said: "Stamps is very well known in Llanelli and has been around for generations. When I saw the building was up for lease, I saw it as an exciting opportunity to bring it back to life. To see such a big building empty for such a long time was such a shame. You've got the Met Bar and Opulence, but the likes of Tom Peppers and Vista Lounge have closed. Hopefully Stamps reopening will be a kick start for other businesses to open up when they see that we can make it work.
"We've fully decorated everything inside to put a bit of life back into the place. We've designed a new logo, and the seats are all new and we've got new features like lights under the bar. We're going to be doing food through the week, not high end, but good value food. Through the day it will be a pub and restaurant and through the week there will be bingo nights, quiz nights, poker nights, things like that. At the weekend it will be more of a nightclub feel with DJs from 9pm and all sorts of different music. For our opening night we'll have live DJs upstairs and downstairs and a saxophonist playing in the beer garden. We'll have live acts performing every other week. We've also got the function room upstairs which people can book free of charge.
"I think it's going to be huge for Llanelli's nightclub scene. It is going to change it. Some people previously would go to Wind Street and this will bring a lot more people back to stay in Llanelli. It will be good for the economy and good for everyone.
"We're hoping it'll offer a bit of something for everyone. The previous clientele was mainly the older generation, and it is still here for them, but we're going to cater for everyone, especially through the week."
Bar manager Jordan Parry added: "I've known Stamps growing up, I've had a few nights out here myself. I'm excited to come back here and see the old building come back to life."
