With Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Semi Ajayi and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali all one booking away from missing the last-16 tie, Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle was expected to make a raft of changes.
Lookman has scored in both AFCON games so far, though is rested against Uganda. Samuel Chukwueze returns to the starting lineup after being overlooked for Frank Onyeka - who is now nursing an ankle issue - last time out.
Paul Onuachu partners Osimhen up front in place of Akor Adams, while goalkeeper Nwabali is rested after a shaky display at the weekend, with Francis Uzoho stepping up.
Blackburn right-back Ryan Alebiosu earns his first senior cap in defence for Nigeria.
