Nigel Winterburn makes bold Arsenal top four prediction despite Tottenham and Man United problem

Former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn has doubled down on his prediction that Arsenal will finish fourth in the Premier League this season.

Mikel Arteta's side currently hold the last UEFA Champions League spot in the league and find themselves in a very strong position with 10 games left to play.

A point above Manchester United, the Gunners have three games in hand on fifth place and should they pick up maximum points, they could theoretically move into third place if other results go their way.

Prior to last weekend's win over Watford, Winterburn has revealed he backed his old club to finish fourth if they picked up three points at Vicrage Road.

Thanks to goals from Martin Odegaard, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal secured the win and Winterburn now believes that Arteta will guide the club back into Europe next season.

“Arsenal aren’t nailed on for fourth spot in the Premier League, because they still have a lot of difficult games to play, but before the Watford game, I said that if Arsenal won, then they would go on to finish fourth. I’m sticking to that," Winterburn told Paddy Power.

“They have a few games in hand on West Ham and Man United, and they’re three points ahead of Tottenham with a game in hand.

“Last week, it was a five-team race for fourth spot, but all of a sudden, the results have gone Arsenal’s way and their form has given them some breathing space.

“Given the form Arsenal are in, they will go on to take fourth place, there's no doubt in my mind.”

Arsenal are next in Premier League action on Sunday when they welcome Leicester City to the Emirates Stadium.

Three days later Liverpool visit north London in what could be a significant fixture for not only the race for top four but the Premier League title as well.
