Nigel Winterburn has identified the central midfield position at Arsenal as an area they need to strengthen if they are to challenge for the Premier League top four this season.
The Gunners have already added Fabio Vieira to their ranks, with Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard all capable of playing that position.
But the 58-year-old has insisted that their midfield options could hinder their ambitions of returning to the Champions League this season but is happy with the business Mike Arteta has already conducted during this window.

Speaking to Paddy Power, Winterburn said: "I'm always very reluctant to talk about certain names. It's great if you get someone that's at the peak of their game, maybe a World Cup winner who's just come from a different league with their club.
"But for me, it's all about when you join the club. If a player joins Arsenal and they're not successful, then all that hype is just a complete waste of time. We have seen some big players go to clubs with big reputations and be an absolute flop, so I'm almost reluctant to talk about who were looking at.
"Arsenal may be looking for another central midfield player. I can't see why we would be looking anywhere in the wide positions; we've got a lot of options there. We also have Fabio Vieira, and he hasn't played yet, but he can play in those five positions, and he can play in the hole.
"At a push, a central midfield player would be the area that they would be looking at, but overall, I'm delighted with what the club have done."
And one of those pieces Winterburn was that of Gabriel Jesus, who has started his career in fine form, scoring two goals and providing three assists in Arsenal's perfect start to the season.
The last player to score 20 goals for the Gunners during a Premier League season was Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang in 2019, and Winterburn believes that the Brazilian can replicate that devastating form for years to come.
"It looks as if Gabriel Jesus is going to play a lot of games if he stays fit. I've said for a while now we need someone that can get us 20 premier league goals a season, and do I think he could do that? Yes, I do!
"His first goal against Leicester was incredible, but the second goal is what I like because there's a desire to find the space, and that to me is a goal scorer. That's why I like the second goal.
"I'm very hopeful that Jesus can get us 20 Premier League goals which, with everything else we've got in the team, should be a good base. It's not a guarantee, but it should be a good base."
