Nida Poll: People's Party and its leader most popular

The opposition-core People’s Party (PP) and its leader Natthaphong Ruengpanyawut were the most popular choices among respondents to the most recent political popularity poll by the National Institute of Development Administration.

Nida surveyed 2,500 people by phone nationwide from June 29 to July 2, all aged 18 years or more.

The favourite choice for prime minister was PP leader Natthaphong, now the opposition leader, with a narrow lead over Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of the Bhumjaithai Party (BJT).

Mr Natthaphong received the support of 26.08% of respondents and Mr Anutin 21.68%.

Behind them, 11.80% of respondents picked Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva, 11.64% Pheu Thai’s Yodchanan Wongsawat who is deputy prime minister and minister of higher education, science, research and innovation, 10.24% were undecided and 4.08% opted for Thai Pakdee Party leader Warong Dechgitvigrom.

Asked for their favourite political party, 34.80% chose PP, followed by BJT 17.00%, Pheu Thai 16.84%, Democrats 12.68%, and 5.32% undecided.
