Sometimes I wanna scream because there are just too many shows to choose from! If you’re tired of scrolling and being unable to make a decision, I’ve got the perfect solution for ya.
Lioness is back for season two and since the first season was such a smash, you know this is gonna be good. It has an incredible cast led by Zoe Saldaña and our very own Nicole Kidman — who doesn’t love watching strong female characters dominate??
The spy thriller follows special operations Marine Joe (Zoe Saldaña) who is in charge of the Lioness Program. The undercover unit goes out into the field and actively befriends wives, girlfriends and daughters of CIA targets. Their main job is to get the women to spill intel about the men they’re involved with, so they can report it back to the American government.
Season one saw the Lioness’ original mission come to an end, so I reckon the stakes are going to be raised for season two. According to the synopsis, characters Joe, Kaitlin and Byron “enlist a new Lioness operative to infiltrate a previously unknown threat”. Oooooh. Tell me more!
It also seems like Joe’s personal and professional life will collide, with “pressure mounting from all sides”. She’ll have to “confront the profound personal sacrifices she has made as the leader of the Lioness program.” It comes down to one big question: how far are the Lioness team willing to go to serve their country?
Still not convinced? Well, the person behind the show is none other than Taylor Sheridan, who has been slinging out hit after hit. Yep, he’s the genius behind Yellowstone, Tulsa King, Mayor of Kingstown and about a billion other shows. And considering he’s able to get some biiiiiiig names on his shows, you just know whatever he’s churning out is quality.
Here’s everything we know about Lioness season two
When will Lioness season two be released in Australia?
The first two episodes of Lioness season two drop on Paramount+ on October 27, 2024. After this, the remaining six episodes will drop weekly.
Who is in the cast of Lioness season two?
Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman are returning, of course, and these two actors are everywhere at the moment. It’s pretty awesome to be able to see them star together in this action-packed show!
Other returning cast include the one and only Morgan Freeman, Laysla De Oliveira, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, Michael Kelly, LaMonica Garrett, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, James Jordan, Hannah Love Lanier and Austin Hébert.
There’s a new character being introduced as well, with Genesis Rodriguez joining the cast as Captain Josephina Carillo.
What has the cast said about Lioness season two?
Zoe Saldaña told People that the season will begin with her character Joe “in a good place”, having some time to focus on her marriage with Neal (Dave Annable) and daughter Kate (Hannah Love Lanier). However, this doesn’t seem like it will last long — the trailer sees Joe in some pretty tense situations.
With new helicopter pilot Captain Josephina Carillo (Genesis Rodriguez) joining the team, Saldaña said that “there’s a lot of mistrust from the beginning” between the pair.
On the other hand, Joe’s relationship with CIA boss Kaitlyn will be going from strength to strength. “There is absolute trust in Joe’s relationship with Kaitlyn. They very much have a role model, mentee-mentor kind of relationship. Joe has always looked up to Kaitlyn and Kaitlyn knows there is nothing she can ask of Joe that she won’t deliver on,” Saldaña said.
“Joe always demands excellence from herself and from her team because she regards Kaitlyn so highly and having her respect is very important to her because they’re very much Lionesses, both of them. In terms of driving missions, they believe in what they’re doing and believe in the Lioness program.”
Is there a Lioness season two trailer?
Yes! And it looks heartbreaking, with Joe’s daughter begging her to leave her dangerous job. You can watch it below:
