Well friends, the untimely divorce of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban has now been finalised. Yep, love is officially dead… and apparently the road to the end was rather difficult.
Last year, the entertainment world was shook to its core after the pair announced they’d split after 19 years of marriage. The relationship’s demise came as a surprise, as the couple had continuously packed on the PDA at events and were publicly supportive of each other’s projects.
Now, months after the Aussie actress filed for divorce, the split has officially been finalised with both parties legally single.

According to ABC News, the divorce was finalised on Tuesday in Nashville, with Judge Stephanie J Williams stating that the couple’s settlements on splitting assets and child custody were sufficient.
In court documents obtained by Page Six, Kidman and Urban waived all their rights to child and spousal support, with both parties agreeing not to pay child support as they both have monthly incomes of more than $100,000 each.
As for the custody of their two daughters — Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15 — the court documents cite they will stay with the Aussie actress for 306 days of the year and will spend “every other weekend” with the singer.
Kidman and Urban agreed that their property, including investments, bank accounts, furniture, appliances, personal items and vehicles, will be divided by mutual agreement and that they will keep what they have now.
All alimony and spousal support claims were also waived, and as a result, Urban and Kidman are responsible for their own legal fees.

It’s not currently known if the pair had a pre-nuptial agreement prior to the split, despite speculation surrounding a “cocaine clause”, which claimed Urban will receive USD $600,000 (approx. AU $900,000) from Kidman every year they’re married if he stayed away from drugs and alcohol.
Why it’s been a “stressful” situation for Nicole
Sure, the divorce might sound straightforward on paper, but insiders have told the Daily Mail it’s been particularly full-on for Nicole as the custody battle is somewhat reminiscent of the one she went through with ex Tom Cruise.
According to insiders, Keith first asked for equal time with their daughters — a request that allegedly sent Nicole spiralling as “she feared history would repeat itself” and she’d lose custody again.
In 2001, Tom and Nicole agreed to joint custody of their children, Isabella, now 32, and Connor, 30, but they ultimately chose to live primarily with their father.

“It took a lot of wearing down but Keith finally agreed to her terms,” the insider alleged to Daily Mail. “Keith knew he’d never win the battle in court and finally backed down. That’s when the divorce was settled.”
The insider added: “It wasn’t an easy Christmas for any of them.”
Why did Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban split?
Neither Kidman nor Urban have publicly commented on the split. However, inside sources claimed the rift stemmed from their conflicting work schedules.
“Keith never sees Nicole, either she is filming or he is on tour,” a source claimed to Daily Mail, before Kidman had filed for divorce.
“There was a lot of love between the two, and they might not divorce. They [have] been together for decades, so there is a world in which they can reconcile, but the way their pairing is now, they are not a couple.”

Another insider claimed Urban was the one who initiated the split, which completely “blindsided” the actress.
Following the divorce buzz, Urban was then rumoured to be romantically linked with his guitarist, Maggie Baugh, which stemmed from a cheeky lyric change to a song he wrote about Kidman.
Instead of belting out: “When they’re tryna get to you / baby I’ll be the fighter”, The Voice coach sang, “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie I’ll be your guitar player”.
Romance whispers were promptly shut down by Alexandra Kay, a close friend of Baugh, who confirmed the guitarist has a boyfriend with whom she’s “very happy”.
“He has nothing to do with that whole relationship [with Urban],” Kay said, per PEOPLE.
I know it’s been months since the news broke, but honestly, I still can’t believe it. My faith in love is officially in the bin with these two calling it quits.
