Nicole Kidman Asked Naomi Watts For Permission To Play The Wife Of Her Ex

Any self-respecting girls-girl knows exes are strictly off limits but, what happens when you’re cast in the same hit Netflix series together?

For the correct answer, we suggest you ask Nicole Kidman.

In her new mystery-drama series, The Perfect Couple, the 57-ear-old actress plays Greer, one half of a wealthy Nantucket power couple who find themselves at the centre of a murder case.

Greer’s husband, Tag Winbury, is played by none other than Liev Schreiber, the ex-husband of Nicole Kidman’s real-life best friend, Naomi Watts.

And, as any bestie would do, Nicole sought permission from Naomi before starring alongside her ex, which included some intensely intimate scenes.

“I heard a story that you asked Naomi first if it was okay [to work together],” Liev revealed during an interview with Entertainment Tonight. To which Nicole responded: “Of course.”

Speaking to the publication at the Toronto International Film Festival, Naomi confirmed the fact: “We always check in, we’re besties. That was very kind of her to do that.”

Naomi and Liev met at the Met Gala in 2005 and began dating shortly after. The couple welcomed their first child together, Sasha, in 2007 followed by the birth of their second, Kai, in 2008. It was in 2016 that the couple called it quits, ending their 11-year relationship but remaining as friends.

What Is The Plot Of The Perfect Couple?

Netflix’s new murder mystery series, The Perfect Couple, is based on the book of the same name from author Elin Hilderbrand.

The couple in question is Benji Wibury and Amelia Sacks, who are due to tie the knot in the wedding of the year. With Benji belonging to one of Nantucket’s wealthiest families, the nuptials are set to be quite the affair, but before they can say ‘I do’ one of their guests meets an untimely demise.

So, who killed them? You’ll have to tune in and see.
