Nicolas Kuhn in blunt response to stunning Celtic goal poser

Nicolas Kuhn insists the first of his two Champions League goals for Celtic tonight was totally intentional.

The winger cut inside on his left foot around the edge of RB Leipzig's box, with the Bundesliga side ahead at that point in the match.

As he drifted inside the pitch, the on-form attacker unleashed a beautiful effort towards the back stick.

It resulted in a crucial goal for the Hoops, as it flew in off the post to give Brendan Rodgers' side a much-needed jolt on their way to another three points in Europe.

But as the likes of Joe Hart stated on co-commentary, it wasn't entirely clear whether Kuhn intended to score or whether he was actually attempting a cross for Daizen Maeda or Kyogo.

Reacting sharply to the TNT reporter's question as to whether he meant the curled effort was a shot or not, the 24-year-old retorted: "Of course."

He continued: "I just went on one of my dribbles and I saw the goal, shot and I am happy that I scored.

"It's what dreams are made of - scoring two goals in the Champions League. It was even better to score against my former club.

"I've said it before. At home, anything is possible with our fans. We showed that today.

"Except from the Dortmund game, we've played some really good football.

"The fans are unbelievable. At the beginning when you hear the anthem, it was just amazing."

Kasper Schmeichel couldn't do much about Leipzig's goal from close-range.

But on the day he celebrated his 38th birthday, the veteran goalkeeper was on top form to deny the German side on a few occasions, particularly in the second half.

Speaking of his teammate, Kuhn added: "We know how important he is for us. I think he gave himself a good birthday present."
