Nicolas Jackson's FIFA 23 profile assessed as Chelsea target boasts impressive potential

Nicolas Jackson looks set to become Chelsea's third signing of the summer transfer window as Mauricio Pochettino builds his squad ahead of the new season.

The summer transfer window is proving to be a big one for Chelsea, with a clearout well underway alongside the arrival of a couple of new faces. Kalidou Koulibaly and N'Golo Kante have already completed moves to Saudi Arabia whilst Edouard Mendy and Hakim Ziyech look to be the next to make the same move, and Kai Havertz, Mateo Kovacic and a few more also look set for exits this summer.

Kendry Paez and Christopher Nkunku have already been confirmed as the first two signings for the Blues, and Villarreal striker Jackson looks set to be the next through the door, with transfer guru Fabrizio Romano claiming the Senegal international has completed his Chelsea medical. Jackson had a very impressive campaign last season in Spain, scoring 12 goals and grabbing four assists in 26 league appearances.

So, how does Jackson compare to the rest of the Chelsea squad on FIFA 23? We assessed the 22-year-old's in-game profile to see how he fares against his new teammates.

Nicolas Jackson's FIFA 23 rating analysed

Overall rating: 75/99

Overall Potential : 83/99

Positions: ST/CAM/LM

Weak Foot: Three Star

Skill Moves: Three Star

Far from the complete striker, Jackson is an extremely raw talent, with the forward only rated 75 out of 99 on FIFA 23. A low rating, but his progression in the 2022/23 campaign can be seen, with the 22-year-old jumping from 71 to 75-rated since FIFA 23's release last year.

Compared to current Chelsea players, Jackson possesses the same overall rating as Armando Broja (75) and Mykhailo Mudryk (75) but is lower rated than the likes of Noni Madueke (77), Christian Pulisic (80) and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (81). However, Jackson boasts an impressive potential rating (83), meaning if he was to hit his projected rating, he would be the joint-fourth highest-rated player in the current Chelsea squad.

Only Thiago Silva (85), Raheem Sterling (85) and Reece James (84) are currently rated higher than Jackson's potential, whilst Kai Havertz (83) is the same overall. The 22-year-old's FIFA 23 profile shows that he can play an array of positions, with the striker also able to play as an attacking midfielder and a left midfielder.

His three-star weak foot suggests he's not extremely comfortable with both feet, whilst his three-star skill moves are the same as Mason Mount, Broja and Enzo Fernandez. Jackson's best attributes in-game are his finishing (80), dribbling (79), acceleration (77), sprint speed (77), ball control (77) and agility (75).

Overall, Jackson's FIFA 23 profile shows that the striker is far from the finished product, but the striker's high potential rating shows how good he could become and what Pochettino sees in the 22-year-old. His versatility across the front line as well as impressive finishing stats could make him a valuable asset in the 2023/24 campaign.
