Nicolas Cage announces new baby's gender in touching interview

Hollywood icon Nicolas Cage has revealed he and his 27 year-old wife Rita Shabata are having a baby girl.

The 58 year-old actor made the iconic gender reveal while on the Kelly Clarkson show and confessed that his baby will be named after both the late John Lennon and Father August 'Augie' Coppola.

He stunned Clarkson and her audience by admitting, " I'm having a baby girl."

Cage explained: “Because of the song Across The Universe, her name will be Lennon Augie, Augie after my father.”

On the show, he told of the first time he heard the infamous Beetles song 'Across the Universe'.

He said: "I must've been four years-old and I remember being frozen, paralyzed listening to that music."

Cage added: "And it's just, it's my favourite song ever written."

Nicolas said he decided on the name "Augie" to honor his Father, who was a big fan of the Beetles' "Let it be" album.

Cage has two sons from previous relationships - Weston Coppola Cage and Cal El Coppola Cage.

In January, he revealed that he and wife Riko were expecting their first child together.

Speaking on how he feels about having a baby girl, Cage said: “I’m thrilled, it’s going to be the biggest adventure of my life”.

In 2020, the couple met in Japan through mutual friends while Cage was filming Prisoners of the Ghostland. In the Sion Sono film, Riko played one of four Mannequin Women.

The couple got engaged through FaceTime and tied the knot in February 2021 at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas.

Cage was previously married to Patricia Arquette, Lisa Marie Presley, and Alice Kim. After a four day marriage, he divorced his fourth wife Erika Koike.

Nick's marriage to Riko is his fifth march down the aisle.
