Nicolas Cage has welcomed his first child with his wife, Riko Shabita.
The 58-year-old’s wife and new mum Riko, 27, is “doing fine” after the birth of their baby girl in Los Angeles, a rep confirmed.
“Nicolas and Riko are happy to announce the birth of their daughter,” the rep told People.
“Mother and daughter are doing fine.”
Cage and Riko’s daughter arrived on September 7 and has a peculiar choice of name, given the month she was born.
The couple’s baby girl is named August Francesca Coppola Cage, which has been changed quite a bit from the original name planned, which Cage revealed back in April.
The Hollywood actor shared his daughter’s initial choice of name as he announced his wife was expecting their first child on The Kelly Clarkson Show.
As his “favourite song ever written”, Across the Universe by The Beatles, played, Cage explained at the time: “And her name, because of Across the Universe, her name is going to be Lennon Augie.”
The Con Air actor added: “Augie after my father”, referring to his father, August Coppola, who died in 2009.
Cage continued: “I’ll call her Lenny for short. I’m thrilled, it’s going to be the biggest adventure of my life.”
The film star has become a father for the third time with the arrival of his daughter, having two children already, sons Weston, 31, and Kal-El, 16, from previous relationships.
Cage’s daughter’s middle name appears to be in tribute to his famous uncle, director Francis Ford Coppola.
Riko is Cage’s fifth wife. The pair married in February 2021.
Cage previously called coined himself a “romantic” as he discussed his past relationships.
He said: “And when I’m in love, I want to give that person everything I can.
“It’s my expression of saying, ‘I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you.’ And this is it for me.”..
